Sutton Hoo Helm Deluxe AH-3802-N

The burial at Sutton Hoo near Woodbridge, Suffolk England is the site of an early grave of an Anglo-Saxon king. It is believe to belong to the East Anglian King Raedwald who died around AD 624. The burial contained a ship fully equipped for the afterlife as well as expensive and ornate armor and weaponry. The artifacts were often decorated with precious metals and stones. Included was this heavily decorated helmet. It has been suggested that the helm was aged somewhat when buried and may even date to the first part of the 6th century.

The Deluxe Sutton Hoo Helmet is constructed from 18 gauge steel and is thoroughly embellished with detailed brasswork. The iconographic plates of the original helmet were made from tinned bronze and they are replicated here in antiqued aluminum. The interior of the helmet, its articulated backplates, cheekplates and its faceplate are lined with stitched, quality leather. An integrated leather suspension liner allows the fit of the helmet to be adjusted. It is finished with a leather chinstrap and adjustable brass buckle.
