If you're seeking a sword that embodies the spirit of English knighthood, look no further. This early 15th Century Longsword is based on a historic original found in the River Thames and now preserved in the Royal Armouries. Designed for battlefield versatility, this hand-and-a-half weapon could be used with one hand or two, gripped for precision half-swording, or even reversed to use the crossguard and pommel for close combat strikes and grappling.

The stiff, acutely tapered blade transitions through three distinct cross-sections—from a hollow-ground blunt ricasso near the guard, to a hexagonal midsection, and finally a flattened diamond point optimized for armor penetration. Though it's robust and battle-ready, this sword surprises with its nimbleness and excellent balance.

Forged by skilled hands at Windlass Steelcrafts using 1080 high carbon steel, the blade is fully tempered and distally tapered for historical weight and performance. A leather-wrapped wood scabbard with brass chape and raised throat completes the package, along with a certificate of authenticity and polishing cloth.

The original sword, Royal Armouries #IX.16, is believed to have been dredged from the River Thames and dates between 1400 and 1430. This type of longsword would have been carried by English knights during major conflicts such as the Hundred Years' War—including the famed Battle of Agincourt in 1415.

Used in both armored and unarmored combat, this was a weapon built for adaptability—allowing for single-handed use on horseback, or two-handed power when fighting on foot. The blade’s point was engineered to exploit the weak spots in plate and mail, and the design reflects the era’s refined understanding of fencing, wrestling, and battlefield survival.
